Aurelie! It's our mommy moose!! She came back and had her baby in our backyard again. I had given up after May but here she is with her brand new baby.
This moose had a baby in my backyard last year when Aurelie and her adorable twins came to visit. We read up on mommy moose and learned that they have a baby nearly every year. They wean the last baby a short while before the new one comes along and they start the process over again. They very often have their babies in the same spot, which is why I'm sure this is the same mommy moose I saw last year.
They're crossing the street in front of my house, the mommy moose has her ears back warning me to not get too close. She didn't care that I was just taking pictures.
